Module: CISCO-VISM-PORT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VISM-PORT-MIB::vismPortType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.5.5.2.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The value of this object is always set to 'voIP'. It indicates that network port. The same value is used even when VISM supports VoAAL1 or VoAAL2.

What is vismPortType?

This read-create INTEGER identifies the port type, and per the MIB's description its value is always set to voIP(1), used to indicate the network port regardless of whether VISM is running VoAAL1 or VoAAL2. An admin cares mainly as a sanity check, since this object should consistently report voIP even across different voice-over-ATM adaptation modes on the same hardware. For example, an operator scripting inventory checks across VISM ports would expect every network port entry to report voIP(1) here regardless of the AAL mode configured elsewhere.
