vismAal2Type3Redundancy
Module: CISCO-VISM-MODULE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-VISM-MODULE-MIB::vismAal2Type3Redundancy
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.3.17.6.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: This attribute defines whether the triple redundancy is supported for Type 3 packets in AAL2 SVC/PVC. When Triple redundancy is enabled, the Type 3 packets (CAS bits, dialled digits and user state control packets) are transmitted in triplicates with an interval defined as per the standards I.366.2. For channels which are quite reliable, triple redundancy can be disabled in order to save the bandwidth and the processing overheads.
The value in this object will be utilized when the call agent does not specify this in CRCX.
What is vismAal2Type3Redundancy?
This read-write TruthValue enables or disables triple redundancy for Type 3 packets (CAS bits, dialed digits, and user state control packets) in AAL2 SVC/PVC connections, per the I.366.2 standard, where enabled transmits each Type 3 packet three times at a defined interval. An admin cares because triple redundancy improves reliability of these critical control packets on lossy channels but consumes extra bandwidth and processing, so it can be disabled on reliable channels to save resources. For example, an operator running AAL2 over a known-reliable, low-loss link would disable this to reduce bandwidth and processing overhead, while keeping it enabled on marginal channels.
