Description: Declares agent capabilities for the standard TCP MIB (RFC 4022) implementation on Cisco IOS and NX-OS platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-TCP-STD-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-TCP-STD-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that records the extent to which Cisco IOS and NX-OS devices implement the standard IETF TCP-MIB (RFC 4022). It defines no data objects of its own, serving only to document supported groups, variations, and access levels for the standard TCP-MIB on particular Cisco platform releases. Consequently it has no role in reporting hardware or software status directly; its function is to let management tools know in advance which TCP-MIB objects will be readable on a given device/software combination. Its dependency is explicit and singular: it profiles conformance to the IETF TCP-MIB standard. It is used in NMS and MIB-compiler tooling for capability discovery across a fleet of Cisco devices running different IOS/NX-OS versions, rather than in day-to-day dashboards. Engineers can download the CISCO-TCP-STD-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-TCP-STD-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS devices
- Cisco NX-OS devices
- vendor-neutral in role (capabilities/conformance document only)
Monitoring Examples
The sample_objects field is empty because this is purely a conformance/capabilities statement — it contains no scalars or tables to poll. Any actual TCP connection monitoring would be done against the standard TCP-MIB (tcpConnTable/tcpConnectionTable) itself, with this module only clarifying which parts of that standard MIB a given Cisco release supports. No monitoring scenario applies to this module directly.
