Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares agent capabilities for the SYSAPPL-MIB covering installed application and process inventory on Cisco platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-SYSAPPL-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-SYSAPPL-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module declaring which objects of the standard SYSAPPL-MIB (System Application MIB, covering installed applications and running processes) a given Cisco device's agent implements. It belongs to the Cisco enterprise conformance-module family and defines no runtime data objects of its own. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; it exists purely to document implementation-level support for application/process inventory objects. It is explicitly dependent on the IETF/IANA SYSAPPL-MIB, whose object groups it references. It is used by SNMP management platforms and MIB compilers during agent capability negotiation on Cisco devices that support process/application inventory reporting. Engineers can download the CISCO-SYSAPPL-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SYSAPPL-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco router
  • Cisco switch

Monitoring Examples

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no runtime data objects; it declares which parts of SYSAPPL-MIB a Cisco agent supports and does not itself expose monitorable process or application data.
