Description: Declares agent capabilities for QoS policy enforcement on Cisco Catalyst switch hardware platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-CAPABILITY?

This is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that formally records which object groups of CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB a particular switch's SNMP agent implements, rather than a data-bearing MIB in its own right. It belongs to the Cisco Catalyst switch QoS technology area but defines no scalars or tables of its own, so it does not directly expose interface, environment, or performance-counter data. Because AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules carry no runtime objects, it plays no role in monitoring hardware or software status such as uptime, temperature, CPU load, or QoS marking statistics - that data lives entirely in the CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB it describes. Its only notable relationship is a direct one-to-one dependency on CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB. In practice it is consumed by MIB compilers and management platforms to determine per-device/per-software-image QoS feature support, not polled during normal operational monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Catalyst switches (QoS-capable platforms)

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe here; it is only consulted by management tools to determine which groups of CISCO-SWITCH-QOS-MIB a given agent and software release support.
