cSmeFabric

Module: CISCO-SME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-SME-MIB::cSmeFabric

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.632.1.1.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SnmpAdminString

Access: read-write

Description: Refers to the name of physical fibre channel fabric in the SAN. A typical SAN deployment consists of a dual fabric topology which corresponds to two physical fabrics. In such a deployment, a VSAN and a cluster is configured in both fabrics to allow multi-pathing and redundancy.

The user specifies the physical fabric to which a device belongs to when the cluster is configured.

What is cSmeFabric?

This object is the name of the physical Fibre Channel fabric this cluster belongs to, relevant because a typical dual-fabric SAN has a separate cluster configured in each physical fabric for multipathing and redundancy. This tells the admin which of potentially two or more physical fabrics a given cluster instance actually operates in, important when troubleshooting because a fault in one fabric should not affect the cluster instance running in the other. A cluster named SME-East tied to fabric Fabric-A while a same-named cluster instance runs in Fabric-B confirms the dual-fabric redundant design is correctly mirrored on both sides.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.632.1.1.2.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-SME-MIB::cSmeFabric

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.632.1.1.2.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-SME-MIB::cSmeFabric.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.632.1.1.2.1.3.1 s <value>
