Category: Cisco Devices, SNMP Framework, VLAN and Bridging

Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for Private VLAN (PVLAN) management on Cisco switching platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting SNMP agent support for CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB, which manages Private VLAN (PVLAN) configuration on Cisco switching platforms. It contains no runtime objects, only declarations of which PVLAN-related object groups and variations a given agent implementation supports. It has no direct role in monitoring PVLAN port mode or association status—that data lives in CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB itself. It exists solely as a conformance companion to, and is dependent on, CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB. It is used by MIB tooling and NMS platforms for capability negotiation rather than operational monitoring, serving as a CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-CAPABILITY reference for tools that need to confirm agent support before relying on the parent MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco switch (Private VLAN capable platform)

Monitoring Examples

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe; it only records which parts of CISCO-PRIVATE-VLAN-MIB a particular agent implements.
