Description: Manages L2 switching features including VLANs and spanning tree for D-Link DES-3028G.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is DES3028G-L2MGMT-MIB?
DES3028G-L2MGMT-MIB is a vendor-specific D-Link MIB (swL2MgmtMIB) that provides comprehensive Layer 2 switch management for the DES-3028G stackable Fast Ethernet switch family. It's organized into sub-trees covering device control (Telnet/Web access state, device alarms), port management (cable diagnostics, port mirroring, port security bindings), QoS (802.1p priority and RADIUS-assigned bandwidth/priority), trunking and VLAN management, IGMP snooping (multicast VLAN and group tables, dynamic IP multicast), DHCP relay, loop detection (with per-port loop-occurred/restart tracking), and flood-MAC detection for identifying MAC addresses causing broadcast storms. Given its scope, it exposes a large set of configuration and status tables spanning per-feature enable/disable controls, per-port operational state, and notification traps for security or loop events. Monitoring it lets operators verify that L2 protective features — loop detection, port security, IGMP snooping — are active and correctly triggering, and administrators can download the DES3028G-L2MGMT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DES3028G-L2MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link DES-3028G (and related DES-30xx series) stackable Layer 2 switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls the loop-detect port table for loop-occurred flags after enabling loop detection; a port that repeatedly shows a loop occurred and needs a restart invoked would indicate a physical wiring loop or misconfigured redundant link causing broadcast storms on that segment.
What Can Be Monitored
- device Telnet/Web management access state
- port mirroring and cable diagnostics status
- port security bindings and violations
- IGMP snooping multicast VLAN/group table entries
- loop detection occurrence/restart per port
- flood-MAC detection events

When log in system DES3028/DES3052 which do not support POE, the first two octets is defined as system LED. The first LED is power LED. The second LED is console LED. When log in system DES3028p/DES3052p which support POE, the first four octets are defined as system LED. The first octet is 0x02 and the second octet is 0x01 when in normal mode. Contrarily, the first octet is 0x01 and the second octet is 0x02 when in poe mode. The third octet indicates the power LED. The fourth octet indicates the console LED. The other octets are defined as follow: start on the third or fifth octets separately correspond to system support poe or system which does not support poe indicate the logical port LED (following swL2BasePort ordering). Every two bytes are presented to a port. The first byte is presentd to the Link/Activity LED. The second byte is presented to the Speed LED. Link/Activity LED : The most significant bit is used for blink/solid: 8 = The LED blinks. The second significant bit is used for link status: 1 = link fail. 2 = link pass. Speed LED : 01 = 10Mbps. 02 = 100Mbps. 03 = 1000Mbps. The four remaining bits are currently unused and must be 0. |

| POR swL2IGMPPortMap | 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.63.11.2.7.5.1.4 | PortList | read-only | This object indicates which ports belong to the same multicast group, on a per-VLAN basis. Each multicast group has an octet string to indicate the port map. The most significant bit represents the lowest numbered port, and the least significant bit represents the highest numbered port. Thus, each port of the switch is represented by a single bit within the value of this object. If that bit has a value of '1' then that port is included in the set of ports; the port is not included if its bit has a value of '0' (Note that the setting of the bit corresponding to the port from which a frame is received is irrelevant). The 4 octets represent one unit port according to its logic port. If the unit is less than 32 ports, the other port will just fill this value with zeros. |
