Description: Manages Power over Ethernet powered device (PD) power negotiation and consumption on Cisco PoE endpoints.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-POE-PD-MIB?

CISCO-POE-PD-MIB is a Cisco Systems Inc. proprietary MIB for devices that are Powered Devices (PDs) receiving Power over Ethernet, reporting the power level and source in use. Its objects cover current power level and current power source, and a supported-power-level table (level, supported power in milliwatts, supported power mode). As a status MIB it lets an administrator confirm how much power a PD is drawing and which PoE mode/level it negotiated with its upstream PSE. It is deployed on Cisco devices that operate as PoE-powered end devices. Engineers can download the CISCO-POE-PD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-POE-PD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems PoE-powered devices (PDs)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cpoePdCurrentPowerLevel and cpoePdCurrentPowerSource to confirm a Cisco PoE-powered device negotiated the expected power class.

What Can Be Monitored

  • negotiated PoE power level and source
