Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for modem management on Cisco access server and WAN platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that declares which parts of the companion CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-MIB a given Cisco SNMP agent implementation actually supports, on Cisco access-server and WAN dial-up platforms that manage modem pools. As an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module it does not itself expose live hardware or software data; it maps OBJECT-GROUP and MODULE-COMPLIANCE clauses from CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-MIB to feature support per device/software release. It plays no direct role in monitoring hardware/software status itself — instead it tells an NMS which modem call-status, statistics, or line-quality objects it can expect a given device to support. Its entire purpose is to describe conformance to CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-MIB, so it is inherently and solely dependent on that MIB. It is used alongside CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-MIB wherever Cisco NMS tooling needs to determine per-device agent capability during MIB compilation. Engineers can download the CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco access server
- Cisco WAN dial-up gateway
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only defines which OBJECT-GROUP and MODULE-COMPLIANCE clauses from CISCO-MODEM-MGMT-MIB a given device/agent supports.
