Description: Manages feature configuration and capabilities for line cards in Cisco MGX 8200 series WAN switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-MGX82XX-CARD-FEATURE-MIB?

CISCO-MGX82XX-CARD-FEATURE-MIB is a Cisco-specific MIB module that describes feature support on the controller cards of the Cisco MGX 8200-series multiservice WAN switching platform, specifically the PXM (Processor Switch Module) controller in the MGX8250 and the ASC (AXIS Shelf Controller) in the MGX8220. It exposes configuration-oriented data such as which VSI (Virtual Switch Interface) controllers (e.g., PNNI, MPLS) are permitted on the switch core, connection admission control (CAC) modes, APS protection-switching attributes, and card redundancy settings. Though primarily a configuration/capability MIB rather than a live-counter MIB, it is used to monitor the operational state and feature availability of controller hardware -- confirming whether redundancy and CAC are enabled on a given card is effectively a hardware-health/configuration-status check. It is one of a family of Cisco MGX8200 MIBs and depends on general Cisco chassis/card enumeration conventions for identifying which physical card a given feature setting applies to. It is deployed in carrier and enterprise WAN environments where Cisco MGX 8220/8250 switches provide ATM/Frame Relay/VSI-controlled multiservice switching. Engineers can download the CISCO-MGX82XX-CARD-FEATURE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MGX82XX-CARD-FEATURE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MGX 8250 WAN switch (PXM controller card)
  • Cisco MGX 8220 WAN switch (ASC controller card)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polling ascFeatures or pxmFeatures can confirm which optional features are active on an ASC or PXM controller card, while switchCoreCard and redundancyAllowed reveal whether the card is configured for redundant operation. Checking trkCACEnable and pxmCardCacMode across trunks shows whether connection admission control is protecting against oversubscription -- an unexpectedly disabled CAC mode would flag a capacity-risk misconfiguration. vsiControllersAllowed and apsCardAttributes would be read to verify VSI controller capacity and APS protection support on the card.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VSI controller allowance
  • connection admission control (CAC) mode
  • card redundancy configuration
  • APS card attributes
  • ASC/PXM feature support
