Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for media quality monitoring on Cisco voice and video platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module for Cisco IOS devices that declares which portions of the companion CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-MIB a given agent implementation actually supports. It does not expose any operational data itself; instead it maps device/software releases to the object groups and variations of the media quality MIB they conform to. As a capabilities module it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status, temperature, CPU, or memory — it is purely an SNMP conformance/compatibility declaration consumed by management stations during MIB compilation. It is entirely dependent on and meaningless without CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-MIB, which is the module that actually defines voice/video RTP quality metrics. Typical deployment context is NMS tooling that inspects agent capabilities to determine which media-quality objects are safe to poll on a particular Cisco voice/video gateway or router. Engineers can download the CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IOS routers and voice/video gateways
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime data objects (no tables, scalars, or counters) — it consists solely of AGENT-CAPABILITIES SUPPORTS clauses referencing object groups in CISCO-MEDIA-QUALITY-MIB. There is no realistic polling scenario to describe; a management application would parse this MIB only to confirm feature support prior to querying the actual media quality MIB.
