Description: Manages LDAP server integration for wireless client authentication on Cisco LWAPP WLC.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-LDAP-MIB?

CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-LDAP-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB implemented on Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) acting as Central Controllers terminating the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) tunnel from lightweight APs, used to manage LDAP server integration for 802.11 client authentication. It exposes a table of configured LDAP servers with connection parameters (address, port), user search base and attribute settings, security options, and per-server operational state. This is primarily a configuration and connectivity-status monitoring MIB: cldlServerState reveals whether each configured LDAP authentication server is currently reachable/active, which is critical since a down LDAP server directly blocks wireless client authentication. It depends on the broader LWAPP/CAPWAP wireless controller architecture and complements other CISCO-LWAPP-* MIBs covering the same controller. It is deployed on Cisco wireless LAN controllers in enterprise Wi-Fi deployments using LDAP-backed authentication for wireless clients. Engineers can download the CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-LDAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-LWAPP-DOT11-LDAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cldlServerTable/cldlServerEntry, indexed by cldlServerIndex, checking cldlServerState for each configured server to confirm LDAP connectivity, alongside cldlServerAddress, cldlServerPortNum, and cldlServerTimeout. If cldlServerState shows a server as down while cldlServerSecurityEnable is set, wireless clients attempting LDAP-based authentication against that server would fail to associate. Reviewing cldlServerUserBase and cldlServerUserNameAttribute confirms the LDAP search parameters match the directory schema in use.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LDAP server reachability/state
  • LDAP server address and port
  • authentication timeout setting
  • user search base and attribute configuration
