Description: Declares agent capability for Cisco Layer 2 tunnel (L2TPv3/AToM) configuration MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES statement from Cisco describing which parts of the CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-MIB (covering Layer 2 tunneling such as L2TPv3/AToM pseudowire configuration) a given Cisco IOS/IOS-XE agent implements. It does not itself define data objects; it is purely a conformance declaration used by network management platforms to know which L2 tunnel configuration groups and objects are supported on a specific device/software combination. Consequently it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software runtime status; its function is compatibility discovery, not data collection. It is entirely dependent on, and meaningless without, the base CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-MIB it describes. It would be consulted by an NMS during device onboarding to confirm L2 tunnel/pseudowire configuration objects are available before attempting to poll or configure them. Engineers can download the CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco router/switch (L2TPv3/AToM Layer 2 tunneling)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects of its own; it only declares which groups of CISCO-L2-TUNNEL-CONFIG-MIB the agent supports, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe beyond checking which groups are marked supported.
