Description: Declares agent capability for the Cisco IMA (Inverse Multiplexing over ATM) MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-IMA-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-IMA-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which parts of the standard IMA-MIB (Inverse Multiplexing for ATM) a Cisco device's agent implements. IMA is a WAN technology that bundles multiple physical links into one logical ATM link, and this capabilities module belongs to that WAN/ATM technology area, but it defines no managed objects itself. As a conformance statement it is not used to monitor hardware or software runtime status; it exists purely to tell management stations which IMA-MIB groups and objects are supported on a given platform. It is entirely dependent on the standard IETF IMA-MIB it profiles. It is used by NMS/MIB tooling during capability negotiation rather than polled by operators for day-to-day monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-IMA-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IMA-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers/access devices with IMA (Inverse Multiplexing over ATM) WAN interfaces
Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects -- it only declares support for groups defined in the standard IMA-MIB, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe.
