Description: Declares agent capability for Cisco interface extension MIB objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module stating which objects of the CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-MIB (Cisco's proprietary extension to the standard Interfaces MIB) are supported by a device's SNMP agent. It belongs to Cisco's interface-management MIB family and, being purely a conformance module, defines no counters, tables, or notifications of its own. It lets management systems verify which extended interface attributes a given Cisco platform exposes before polling the underlying data MIB. Its dependency is on the CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-MIB it profiles, which itself builds on the standard IF-MIB. It applies broadly across Cisco routers and switches with extended interface reporting. Engineers can download the CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers and switches with extended interface reporting

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a source of monitorable data; it only records which CISCO-IF-EXTENSION-MIB groups a given Cisco device implements.
