What Is CISCO-IETF-VRRP-07-MIB?
CISCO-IETF-VRRP-07-MIB implements the IETF VRRPv3 draft (version 07) MIB for Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol, supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 first-hop router redundancy on Cisco routers and switches. It exposes per-interface VRRP instance data including virtual router ID, priority, operational state, virtual MAC address, and master/primary IP addresses. This is directly useful for monitoring the operational status of redundant gateway routers, since c07vrrpOperationsState transitioning away from Master or Backup as expected, or an unexpected change in c07vrrpOperationsMasterIpAddr, signals a failover event or misconfiguration in the redundancy group. It is based on the IETF VRRP MIB draft and works alongside interface and IP address MIBs to fully identify the protected interface. It is typically deployed at the network edge or core wherever gateway redundancy is required for high availability. An administrator polls c07vrrpOperationsTable (c07vrrpOperationsEntry, indexed by c07vrrpOperationsVrId) for c07vrrpOperationsState and c07vrrpOperationsPriority to confirm the expected router is currently Master; a lower-priority router unexpectedly reporting Master state indicates the primary router has failed or lost connectivity. Checking c07vrrpOperationsMasterIpAddr against c07vrrpOperationsPrimaryIpAddr confirms whether failover has occurred, and c07vrrpOperationsAddrCount verifies all expected virtual addresses are still associated with the group. c07vrrpStatistics counters help confirm whether the transition was triggered by a genuine fault or a flapping condition.
