Category: Cisco Devices, MPLS and Traffic Engineering, Pseudowire, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares agent capability for the IETF pseudowire MPLS MIB on Cisco devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module describing a Cisco device's implementation of the IETF pseudowire-over-MPLS MIB (CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-MIB), within the pseudowire/MPLS management area. Like other capability modules, it defines no runtime tables or counters itself, but rather documents which objects, groups, and compliance statements of the referenced pseudowire MIB are supported on a particular platform. It therefore has no direct role in reporting hardware/software operational status; its function is purely to inform management applications about feature coverage ahead of actual polling. It exists solely to complement CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-MIB and is meaningless without that base MIB. It is used during NMS onboarding and compliance verification for Cisco routers running MPLS pseudowire services, serving as a CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-CAPABILITY reference for which features a given platform actually supports.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MPLS pseudowire-capable routers

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects; sample_objects is empty. It exists to declare which parts of CISCO-IETF-PW-MPLS-MIB are implemented, not to expose any monitorable status itself.
