Category: Cisco Devices, Routing Protocols

Description: Extends the CISCO-HSRP-MIB with additional objects for tracking HSRP group interface associations and secondary addresses on Cisco devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-HSRP-EXT-MIB?

CISCO-HSRP-EXT-MIB is a Cisco Systems, Inc. proprietary MIB extending CISCO-HSRP-MIB (based on RFC 2281) with additional HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) configuration. Its objects cover a tracked-interface table (interface, decrement priority, row status, use-no-IP-address flag), a secondary-address table (address, row status), a standby-source table (destination/source address type and address, row status), and an interface table (use-burned-in-address flag, row status). As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm secondary HSRP IP addresses and interface-tracking priority decrements on a Cisco router. It is deployed on Cisco Systems routers running HSRP. Engineers can download the CISCO-HSRP-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-HSRP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems routers (HSRP)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cHsrpExtIfTrackedPriority to confirm how much an HSRP priority decrements when a tracked interface goes down on a Cisco router.
