Description: Provides management objects for configuring and monitoring the Cisco GyroAccess WAN optimization and network acceleration platform.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-GYROAC-MIB?
CISCO-GYROAC-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB defined for the IR8x9 series of ruggedized industrial routers, exposing readings from onboard gyroscope and accelerometer sensors. It provides 3-axis gyroscope data (G-X, G-Y, G-Z in milli-degrees-per-second) and 3-axis accelerometer data (XL-X, XL-Y, XL-Z in milligrams), reflecting the physical motion and orientation of the device chassis rather than traditional network counters. Unlike typical hardware-health MIBs that track temperature or CPU load, this one is used to monitor the physical status of the router itself — detecting tilt, vibration, or unexpected movement that could indicate vehicle motion, mounting failure, or tampering. It follows Cisco's standard enterprise MIB (CISCO-SMI) OID conventions for its object tree. It is typically deployed on Cisco IR8x9 routers installed in vehicles, industrial cabinets, or outdoor/mobile enclosures where physical disturbance detection is operationally important. Engineers can download the CISCO-GYROAC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-GYROAC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco IR8x9 series ruggedized/industrial routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll objects beneath ciscoGyroacMIBObjects and ciscoGyro to read the current 3D gyroscope (G-X/Y/Z) and accelerometer (XL-X/Y/Z) values for the router. A sustained spike in accelerometer readings could indicate the unit was bumped, dropped, or is undergoing vibration from a moving vehicle, while nonzero gyroscope values over time could reveal the device is being rotated or physically relocated without authorization.
What Can Be Monitored
- 3-axis gyroscope readings (G-X, G-Y, G-Z)
- 3-axis accelerometer readings (XL-X, XL-Y, XL-Z)
- device tilt/orientation status
- physical vibration or tamper indication
