Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for Redundancy Framework stateful switchover on Cisco routing platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-RF-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-RF-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB, that documents which parts of the CISCO-RF-MIB (Cisco Redundancy Framework) a given SNMP agent implements. It belongs to the Cisco IOS high-availability/stateful-switchover technology area and exists purely to declare implementation conformance for the RF-MIB's stateful switchover objects. It exposes no runtime data itself, so it cannot be polled to check uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, or any other operational status; instead it is consumed by network management systems to determine, at MIB-compilation or capability-discovery time, which RF-MIB features a particular router's agent supports. It is entirely dependent on CISCO-RF-MIB, which is the actual data module for redundancy/switchover state. It applies to Cisco IOS platforms (introduced with IOS 12.1) that support dual Route Processor or dual Supervisor stateful switchover redundancy. Engineers can download the CISCO-RF-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-RF-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers with dual Route Processor/Supervisor redundancy (IOS Redundancy Framework stateful switchover)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe honestly; it only informs an NMS which CISCO-RF-MIB objects the agent supports.
