What Is CISCO-FC-PM-MIB?

CISCO-FC-PM-MIB is a Cisco Fibre Channel performance-monitoring MIB used on Cisco MDS SAN switches to track 24-hour error and performance statistics for Fibre Channel and FICON interfaces, sampled every 15 minutes. It exposes performance-counter data such as link resets, offline sequences, and other FC-FS-defined error events, organized into current and historical (24-hour bucketed) tables. This is squarely a hardware/link performance monitoring MIB: it lets an operator track interface-level error rates and link stability over time to catch degrading optical links, flapping ports, or marginal cabling before they cause outages. It is explicitly grounded in the Fibre Channel Framing and Signaling (FC-FS) standard for its error definitions, and works alongside CISCO-FIBRECHANNEL-MIB for baseline FC interface data. It is deployed in SAN environments running Cisco MDS Fibre Channel/FICON switches where storage administrators need long-term performance-history visibility per port. An administrator would poll cfcpmPortPerfStatusTable/cfcpmPortPerfStatusEntry alongside cfcpmValidIntervals and cfcpmInvalidIntervals to confirm a full 15-minute sampling history is available for a port, then check cfcpmTotalPortErrorTable/cfcpmTotalPortErrorEntry for counters like cfcpmtPortRxLinkResets, cfcpmtPortTxLinkResets, and cfcpmtPortRxOfflineSequences. A steadily climbing cfcpmtPortLinkResets count on one FC port relative to its peers would indicate a failing SFP, dirty fiber connector, or marginal cable segment. cfcpmTimeElapsed tells the poller how far into the current 15-minute bucket the counters are.
