Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for Cisco Entity Diagnostics MIB on supported hardware platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-CAPABILITY?
This AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documents which groups and object variations of the CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-MIB (Cisco's hardware diagnostics MIB) are supported by a given agent implementation on Cisco hardware platforms. It defines no managed objects itself, so it does not directly expose diagnostic test results, hardware fault codes, or component health data; those live in the referenced CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-MIB. As a pure conformance statement it plays no direct role in monitoring uptime, temperature, or diagnostic pass/fail state, though it indirectly enables NMS tooling to know which diagnostic capabilities exist per platform. It is entirely dependent on CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-MIB, which in turn extends concepts from the IETF ENTITY-MIB. It is used by MIB compilers and Cisco/partner NMS tooling to determine per-platform diagnostic feature support. Engineers can download the CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco hardware platforms (routers, switches)
- vendor-specific conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB
Monitoring Examples
As a capabilities-only module it defines no data objects or tables to poll; there is no realistic runtime monitoring scenario here. Actual hardware diagnostic test results and pass/fail status would be monitored via the underlying CISCO-ENTITY-DIAG-MIB rather than this capability statement.
