Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment, SNMP Framework
Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for Cisco Entity Display MIB managing front panel and LCD display components.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-CAPABILITY?
This is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting which objects of CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-MIB (which manages front-panel LCD/display components on Cisco devices) are implemented by a given SNMP agent. It contains no runtime data objects of its own, serving solely as a conformance declaration for network management tools to determine supported display-related features on a Cisco device. Because it defines no operational objects, it plays no direct role in exposing hardware/software status, display content and status monitoring is handled by CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-MIB itself. It is explicitly dependent on CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-MIB, whose implementation it describes. It is used internally by management systems for capability negotiation on Cisco devices equipped with physical front-panel displays. Engineers can download the CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ENTITY-DISPLAY-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Catalyst 6500/6000 and 7600 series switches/routers (front-panel LCD display capability)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects; the sample_objects list is empty as it contains only capability statements about display-related MIB support, not pollable display status or content.
