What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-TSOUT-MIB?

Part of the Cisco DMN DSG D9800 satellite gateway product line, this MIB manages MPEG transport stream (TS) output configuration, controlling how demultiplexed/decoded content is re-multiplexed and output over ASI or IP (MOIP) interfaces. It exposes configuration and status data organized in tsoutTable/tsoutEntry rows per output instance, covering output mode, descrambling mode, rate control, output rate, null packet insertion, and a separate tsoutStatusTable for operational state. This is used to monitor the software/service status of the transport stream output pipeline, confirming an output instance is active, correctly descrambling content, and maintaining its configured bitrate, rather than exposing traditional hardware sensors like temperature or fans. It builds on Cisco's proprietary DMN/DSG framework rather than IETF standard MIBs. It is deployed in cable and satellite headend systems where D9800 gateways convert satellite-delivered content into ASI or IP multiplex outputs for downstream distribution, typically after a CISCO-DMN-DSG-TSOUT-MIB download is loaded into the headend's monitoring system.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-TSOUT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco DMN D9800 satellite gateway
  • digital TV headend transport stream processing equipment

Monitoring Examples

An engineer would poll tsoutStatusTable entries alongside tsoutOutputMode and tsoutMOIPOutputMode to confirm each transport stream output instance (tsoutInstanceName) is running in the expected ASI or IP mode. Watching tsoutOutputRate against tsoutRateControl settings reveals if a multiplex is drifting from its configured rate, and tsoutDescrambleMode confirms conditional-access descrambling is functioning. tsoutInsertNullPkt status helps verify null-packet stuffing used to maintain constant bitrate output.

What Can Be Monitored

  • transport stream output mode
  • descramble mode
  • output rate vs configured rate
  • null packet insertion status
  • ASI/IP multiplex output status
