ccasLSTReleaseGuardTimer

Module: CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB::ccasLSTReleaseGuardTimer

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.314.1.3.3.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Gauge

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies the delay between reception of the clear forward signal and the sending of the idle signal. Upon reception of the clear forward signal, GW starts the release guard timer. Upon expiry of this timer, the idle signal is generated. This timer is required to prevent seizing of the channel immediately. This object is applied to R2 CAS.

What is ccasLSTReleaseGuardTimer?

This sets the delay the gateway inserts between receiving the clear-forward signal and actually sending the idle signal back onto the line, specifically to prevent the channel from being immediately reseized by a new call. This guard period exists because instantly reusing a just-released channel can confuse far-end equipment that has not fully processed the teardown yet, so this timer trades a small amount of channel-reuse latency for signaling reliability on R2 CAS trunks. With this timer set to 300 ms, a channel that just finished a call waits that long after teardown before the gateway declares it idle and available, avoiding a race condition where a new call attempt collides with the tail end of the previous call's release.
