Module: CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB::ccasIfExtVoiceCfgICSIntTimer

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.314.1.1.1.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies a timeout value for ICS integration timer. This timer is started once channel idle is detected. When the timer is expired, the gateway will stop transmitting bearer data to network. Instead, the CAS keep-alive packets will be sent.

What is ccasIfExtVoiceCfgICSIntTimer?

This sets the ICS integration timer, in milliseconds, that starts counting once channel idleness is detected and, on expiry, causes the gateway to stop sending bearer data over the AAL2 connection and switch to sending only CAS keep-alive packets. This timer is the specific delay between a channel looking idle and actually suppressing the bearer traffic, so tuning it too short risks suppressing a channel during a brief pause in speech, while too long delays the ATM-bandwidth savings ICS is meant to deliver. With this timer set to 2000 ms, a caller who pauses for under two seconds keeps full bearer transmission, but a channel left idle for over two seconds switches to sending only lightweight CAS keep-alives until traffic resumes.
