Module: CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-CAS-IF-EXT-MIB::ccasBwdRSNatureOfCircuit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.314.1.4.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CASBackwardSignal

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies a backward signal requesting information regarding the nature of the circuits involved in the connection so far, i.e. satellite link or not. The default value is country specific.

What is ccasBwdRSNatureOfCircuit?

This object specifies the backward signal requesting information about the nature of the circuit used so far in the call path, specifically whether it includes a satellite link. This matters because satellite links introduce significant propagation delay that affects echo-suppression and signaling-timer requirements, so the answer to this request, sent via ccasFwdRSSatelLinkIncluded or ccasFwdRSSatelLinkNotIncluded, determines which timer profile the call should use going forward. On a long-haul international call routed partly via satellite, the far end would respond to this request with the satellite-link-included forward signal, prompting the gateway to apply longer echo-suppression timers for that call.
