Description: Fore Systems interface MIB providing extensions to the standard IF-MIB with ForeRunner-specific interface attributes and statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Fore-If-MIB?
Fore-If-MIB is a FORE Systems proprietary MIB extending the standard interface concept with a single FORE-specific configuration object: per-interface MTU size. Its interface table, indexed like the standard ifTable, lets an administrator view and set the MTU for each FORE Systems ATM switch interface. As a configuration MIB it exists specifically to let an administrator confirm or adjust MTU settings that the base IF-MIB alone doesn't expose as configurable on FORE hardware. It is deployed on FORE Systems ATM switches. Engineers can download the Fore-If-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Fore-If-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- FORE Systems ATM switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator sets foreIfMtu on an interface to match the MTU required by an ATM PVC before troubleshooting fragmentation-related packet loss on that link.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-interface MTU configuration
