Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for the Cisco AAA client MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module documenting which parts of the companion CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-MIB a given Cisco device's SNMP agent supports, covering the device's role as an AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) client, typically for RADIUS/TACACS+ interactions. As a conformance module it defines no runtime data objects; it exists solely to declare implementation support, which groups and object variations are implemented, for network management tooling and MIB compilers. It therefore plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; there is no uptime, session count, or authentication statistic exposed here, its function is limited to describing conformance. Its entire purpose is dependent on CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-MIB, which contains the actual AAA client configuration and statistics objects this capabilities statement describes support for. It is used only during MIB support discovery by management systems, not queried for live operational or authentication data. Engineers can download the CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco routers and switches
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a data-bearing MIB, so it contains no tables or scalar objects that would be polled in a monitoring scenario. Network management systems reference it only to determine which AAA-client-related groups and objects from CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-MIB a given device's agent actually supports. Live AAA client statistics such as authentication attempt counts or server response times would instead be found in CISCO-AAA-CLIENT-MIB itself.
