cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddrType
Module: CIENA-CES-MGMT-INTERFACE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-MGMT-INTERFACE-MIB::cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddrType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.27.1.1.1.1.13
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: InetAddressType
Access: read-only
Description: This OID specifies the Inet address type of the OIDs cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddr and cienaCesInetMgmtInterfacePrefixLength. When representing: ipv4 : cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddr should be compliant with InetAddressIPv4 from RFC 4001 ipv6 : cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddr should be compliant with InetAddressIPv6 from RFC 4001
What is cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddrType?
This object tells an SNMP manager how to decode the address bytes carried in the paired cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceNotifAddr object within a trap -- ipv4 meaning a 4-byte address per RFC 4001 InetAddressIPv4, ipv6 meaning a 16-byte address per InetAddressIPv6. Getting this wrong when writing a trap-receiver script means misparsing the address entirely, e.g. reading half of an IPv6 literal as if it were an IPv4 octet string. For example, a value of ipv6(2) tells the receiving script to parse the accompanying bytes as something like fe80::1 rather than a dotted-quad.
