Module: CIENA-CES-MGMT-INTERFACE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-MGMT-INTERFACE-MIB::cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceAddrPrefixLength

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.27.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Description: Specifies the address prefix length. This OID should be used in conjuction with cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceAddrType. This OID should be compliant with RFC 4001 InetAddressPrefixLength.

What is cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceAddrPrefixLength?

This object reports the subnet prefix length (in RFC 4001 InetAddressPrefixLength form) that applies to the management interface address identified by the paired cienaCesInetMgmtInterfaceAddrType object. An admin cross-checks this value against the actual mgmt-network subnet plan to catch a mismatched mask that would make the interface unreachable from expected subnets or, conversely, too permissive. For example, a value of 24 paired with address 10.10.5.2 means the interface believes it sits on a /24, so a technician expecting a /26 there would immediately know the config is wrong.
