Module: CIENA-CES-MCAST-FILTER-MIB
OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-MCAST-FILTER-MIB::cienaCesMcastIgmpSnoopRapidRecoveryMode
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.37.1.1.5.1.23
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: Specifies whether the rapid recovery mode is set to on or off. If this object is set to ON then the device generates and accepts query packets with source IP = 0 else in the OFF state, it does not.
What is cienaCesMcastIgmpSnoopRapidRecoveryMode?
This controls whether the device will generate and accept IGMP query packets with a source IP address of 0.0.0.0, a technique some networks use for rapid multicast recovery after a topology change, versus rejecting such packets when the mode is off. An admin who has observed slow multicast reconvergence after a link failure or topology change might enable this mode to speed recovery, but should first confirm all relevant upstream devices also support and expect zero-source-IP queries, since enabling it unilaterally on an incompatible network could cause queries to be ignored by peers. A value of on(1) means the device actively participates in this accelerated-recovery signaling; off(2) means it strictly follows conventional IGMP source-address expectations.
