cienaCesIpDataInterfaceInetAddrPrefixLength

Module: CIENA-CES-IP-INTERFACE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-IP-INTERFACE-MIB::cienaCesIpDataInterfaceInetAddrPrefixLength

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.1.8.1.1.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddressPrefixLength

Access: read-only

Description: Specifies the address prefix length. This OID should be used in conjuction with cienaCesIpDataInterfaceInetAddrType. This OID should be compliant with RFC 4001 InetAddressPrefixLength.

What is cienaCesIpDataInterfaceInetAddrPrefixLength?

This gives the CIDR-style prefix length, such as /24 or /30, associated with this interface's IP address under the newer, IPv6-capable InetAddress framework, and must be interpreted together with cienaCesIpDataInterfaceInetAddrType to know whether it applies to an IPv4 or IPv6 address. An admin auditing subnet sizing across data interfaces would read this prefix length rather than a legacy dotted-mask value, since it's the modern representation used for both address families. A value of 30 would indicate this interface sits on a tight point-to-point /30 subnet, typical of a router-to-router link.
