What Is ATMSWCH-MIB?
ATMSWCH-MIB is a Lucent Technologies vendor-specific MIB for managing ATM switch fabric hardware, modeling per-CPU-card health (atmSwchCpuTable: atmSwchCpuUtilization, atmSwchCpuRamUsed/Size, atmSwchCpuFlashUsed/Size, atmSwchCpuSysUpTime), per-slot state including SONET Automatic Protection Switching (atmSwchSlotAPSMode, atmSwchSlotAPSCurrentState, atmSwchSlotAPSSwitchCommand, atmSwchSlotAPSSFBerThreshold), and per-port/per-virtual-port configuration and connection counts (atmSwchPortTable, atmSwchVPortTable) covering SVC/PVC point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connection tallies, signalling state, and ILMI address registration. It also tracks cross-connect-adjacent objects such as atmSwchPortdsx3CellMaping for DS3-to-cell mapping and atmSwchVPortConfMinVpi/MaxVpi for VPI range provisioning on each virtual port, giving visibility into both switch-fabric resource utilization and connection-level state. This MIB is useful for spotting overloaded switch CPU cards, APS protection switches that have triggered due to bit-error-rate thresholds, or virtual ports stuck out of their expected signalling/ILMI state, and it is deployed on Lucent ATM switch platforms; network teams managing Lucent ATM gear can search for the ATMSWCH-MIB MIB reference when building monitoring for these switches.

An operator polls atmSwchSlotTable (indexed by atmSwchSlotIndex) to check atmSwchSlotAPSCurrentState against atmSwchSlotAPSSFBerThreshold; a slot reporting an active protection-switch state alongside a high atmSwchSlotRxCellDiscards count would indicate a degraded SONET line triggered an APS failover.
