What Is CALIX-SMI?
CALIX-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module for Calix Networks, defining the top-level enterprise OID hierarchy under which all other Calix broadband access equipment MIBs are registered. Like other vendor SMI modules, it contains no object definitions of its own, no counters, tables, or notifications, only the naming/registration tree that gives structure to Calix's MIB set. Consequently it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; its value is purely organizational, enabling other Calix MIBs (for optical line terminals, ONTs, DSL/PON access equipment) to register their objects consistently. It has no functional dependency on other MIBs beyond the standard IETF SMI/enterprises OID conventions it extends. It is used across the full range of Calix broadband access platforms as the root under which all product-specific MIBs are organized, giving the CALIX-SMI OID tree its structural role rather than any monitoring data of its own.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CALIX-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Calix broadband access equipment (e.g. ONT/ONU, DSLAM, PON access nodes)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module because it defines only the enterprise OID root, not runtime data, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it exists solely so that other Calix product MIBs have a defined branch of the OID tree to register under.
