What Is CALIX-PRODUCT-MIB?

CALIX-PRODUCT-MIB is a Calix registration MIB that defines the administrative OID assignments used to uniquely identify physical product components across Calix's broadband access equipment line, including E-series GPON and DSL access platforms. Rather than exposing operational counters or status itself, it acts as a product/component identity catalog -- a lookup of OIDs for specific hardware models and modules -- that other Calix MIBs reference when reporting which exact physical unit or card is present in a chassis. Its monitoring relevance is indirect: it enables hardware inventory identification (confirming exactly which product/card model an agent is reporting on) which underpins fault and status reporting done by other Calix MIBs, rather than surfacing uptime, temperature, or CPU data directly. It is a dependency for other Calix platform and chassis MIBs, which reference these product OIDs to identify installed hardware. It is used across Calix's carrier access deployments wherever GPON or DSL access nodes need standardized hardware identification in SNMP management. A given CALIX-PRODUCT-MIB OID value, once looked up, tells an operator precisely which Calix hardware model or card is installed in a reporting chassis.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CALIX-PRODUCT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Calix E7-2 (2024) — current compact 2-slot GPON/XGS-PON/Active Ethernet fiber access chassis
  • Calix E7-20 — current high-density PON access chassis for central office deployments

Monitoring Examples

No populated data-object samples were provided (sample_objects is empty), consistent with this being a pure product-identity registration MIB; a chassis/inventory MIB elsewhere in the Calix line would reference the OIDs defined here to report, for example, that a given slot contains a specific E-series GPON card model, but this MIB itself has no pollable runtime objects to describe a monitoring scenario for.
