Category: DSL and Broadband
Description: Manages HDSL 701T2 modem units, providing loop performance, alarm, and configuration objects for DSL access.

What Is HDSL701T2-MIB?
HDSL701T2-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB (GDC/701T2 family) for managing HDSL (High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) modem units, exposing system version information and a set of loop and equipment alarm conditions for DSL access circuits. It provides configuration and status objects covering the modem's software version and a range of alarm objects, including no-response and power-up alarms plus receive-error diagnostics on the DSL loop. This MIB is explicitly used to monitor hardware status, particularly whether the HDSL unit has recently powered up (indicating a possible outage), whether it is failing to respond to management polls, and whether the receive path is reporting diagnostic errors that would signal line degradation. As a legacy device-specific MIB it does not depend on IETF DS1/DSL standard MIBs, instead defining its own private alarm tree. It is typically deployed on HDSL line units terminating leased-line or T1/E1-over-copper circuits in telecom access networks. Engineers can download the HDSL701T2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HDSL701T2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GDC/HDSL 701T2 modem units
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hdsl701T2NoResponseAlm to detect when the modem stops responding to SNMP or line-status queries, which combined with hdsl701T2PowerUpAlm helps distinguish a fresh reboot from a sustained management-plane failure. The hdsl701T2DiagRxErrAlm object flags receive-side diagnostic errors on the HDSL loop, which would indicate line noise or a degraded copper pair. Checking hdsl701T2Version and gdc701T2SystemMIBversion confirms the firmware/software version running on the unit during a fleet audit. A recurring DiagRxErrAlm without a corresponding power-up event would point to a persistent line-quality problem rather than a transient outage.
What Can Be Monitored
- no-response alarm
- power-up alarm
- receive diagnostic error alarm
- system/firmware version
