Category: Device Management
Description: Covers administrative management and system configuration for the ANS CO+RE high-speed network.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ANS-ADMIN-MIB?
ANS-ADMIN-MIB is a legacy vendor MIB from ANS CO+RE Systems (an early high-speed/backbone network provider) for administrative management, notably software/feature licensing on ANS network equipment. It exposes a license table tracking license identifiers, names, licensed capacity versus current in-use capacity, expiration dates, and install actions. Its monitoring purpose is software/licensing-state health: confirming a license hasn't expired, that current capacity usage hasn't exceeded the licensed capacity, and that expected licenses are installed on the device, which prevents unexpected feature or capacity loss. No formal module description was available in the source, and no notable external MIB dependency is evident beyond standard SNMP conventions. It would have been deployed on ANS backbone/network equipment in that provider's high-speed network infrastructure, now of largely historical/legacy interest. Engineers can download the ANS-ADMIN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ANS-ADMIN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ANS CO+RE Systems network equipment (legacy high-speed backbone gear)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk ansLicenseTable/ansLicenseEntry keyed by ansLicenseId to check ansLicenseExpirationDate against the current date, flagging licenses nearing expiry. Comparing ansLicenseCurrentCapacity against ansLicenseCapacity for a given ansLicenseName would reveal whether the device is approaching a licensed capacity ceiling (e.g., number of sessions or ports enabled). ansLicenseInstall indicates whether a license has been successfully applied, useful for confirming a recent license update took effect.
What Can Be Monitored
- license expiration date
- licensed vs. current capacity usage
- license install status
- license name/identifier
