What is cadIfCmtsCmCountsTimingOffset?

Measures the current round-trip time for a cable modem in units of approximately 6.25 microseconds divided by 64x256, used to synchronize the modem's upstream transmissions so they arrive at the CMTS at the correct time. A value of zero indicates the timing is unknown.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select an ARRIS/Cadant C4/E6000 CMTS as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type cadIfCmtsCmCountsTimingOffset into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the current round-trip timing offset used to synchronize this cable modem's upstream transmissions, in units of 6.25 microseconds/(64*256). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an Integer32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the offset drifts significantly from its expected baseline, since an unexpected ranging-offset shift often points to plant or cabling issues affecting that modem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
