Description: This variable controls whether multicast NS packets can be sent for an IPv6 address where there is no stored previous knowledge about a MAC/IP binding. The total number of multicast NSs to send before switching to the not-present state is limited by the cadAgingNDCacheSearchingMaxNumber variable. If cadAgingNDCacheSearchingCableMulticast is false and there is no stored previous knowledge about a MAC/IP binding, the ND cache entry will transition immediately to the not-present state.

What is cadAgingNDCacheSearchingCableMulticast?

Controls whether the CMTS may send multicast Neighbor Solicitation (NS) packets over the cable interface for IPv6 addresses where no prior MAC/IP binding exists. If enabled, the CMTS will multicast NS requests up to the configured limit before declaring the address not-present.
