Description: Manages CableHome QoS (Quality of Service) policy configuration for residential gateway traffic classification.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CABH-QOS-MIB?
CABH-QOS-MIB is a CableLabs CableHome standard MIB that supplies configuration and monitoring parameters for the CableHome prioritized Quality of Service capability on a residential gateway. Its scope is narrow, it primarily provides administrative control such as resetting the QoS subsystem's configuration to factory defaults, rather than a large set of runtime traffic counters. As a configuration-oriented MIB its monitoring value is mainly in confirming the operational/reset state of QoS policy enforcement on the device rather than hardware health metrics like temperature or CPU. It belongs to the same CableHome MIB family as CABH-CAP-MIB and shares that model's Portal Services device architecture and conventions. It is deployed on cable-operator-provisioned CableHome residential gateways that support prioritized traffic handling for services like voice. Engineers can download the CABH-QOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CABH-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- CableHome-compliant residential gateway
Monitoring Examples
The only concretely known object, cabhPriorityQosSetToFactory, would be polled or set by an operator to trigger or verify a reset of the device's QoS configuration back to factory defaults, useful when troubleshooting a gateway with a corrupted or unexpected QoS policy. Because the available sample data does not include runtime traffic-priority counters, a realistic monitoring scenario beyond this reset/status object cannot be substantiated from what is known of this module.
What Can Be Monitored
- QoS factory-reset control/status
