All MIBs › Bull-MIB
Category: Device Management, Hardware and Environment
Description: Monitors Bull SA server hardware components including CPU, memory, storage, and environmental sensors.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Bull-MIB?
Bull-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Bull SA (a French enterprise computing manufacturer, notably of DPX/2 server systems) used to monitor the hardware health of Bull server platforms. It exposes data about internal resource pools such as string and block storage tables alongside general server hardware identification objects for product families like the DPX/2 line. In monitoring terms it is used to track software/kernel-level resource usage on the server -- for example allocation, in-use counts, maximums, totals, and failure counts for internal storage structures -- which can reveal resource exhaustion or leaks before they cause an outage. It is a self-contained proprietary MIB without heavy reliance on external standard MIBs beyond basic SNMP conventions. It would typically be deployed on Bull DPX/2 series servers in enterprise or telecom data center environments running Bull's proprietary or Unix-derived operating system. Engineers can download the Bull-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Bull-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Bull SA DPX/2 server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll bullStrTable/bullStrEntry fields such as bullStrAlloc, bullStrInuse, bullStrMaxs, bullStrTotals, and bullStrFails to track how many string resources are allocated versus in use on a Bull DPX/2 server, and whether allocation failures (bullStrFails) are increasing. A rising bullStrFails counter alongside bullStrInuse approaching bullStrMaxs would indicate the server is running low on this internal resource pool and at risk of application errors. The parallel bullBlkTable presumably tracks an analogous block-resource pool for similar exhaustion monitoring.
What Can Be Monitored
- string resource allocation
- string resources in use
- string resource maximum/failures
- block resource table status
- product/model identification
