What Is BTI-MIB?

BTI-MIB is the top-level enterprise MIB for BTI Systems, a vendor of optical transport and networking equipment (later part of Juniper/other optical portfolios), establishing the root OID hierarchy under which all other BTI product MIBs register. It defines organizational branches such as btiSystems, btiModules, btiProducts, and product-line branches like bti7000 and btiems, plus a Performance-Shelf-Management branch (btiPSM), but does not itself define functional managed objects with runtime values. Consequently it is not directly used to monitor hardware or software status; it exists purely to provide the numeric OID namespace that BTI's functional MIBs (system, hardware inventory, alarm, and performance MIBs) attach beneath. Every other BTI product/module MIB depends on this MIB for its OID root, making it a foundational structural dependency for the whole BTI MIB suite, and troubleshooting an unrecognized object typically starts by checking its position under the BTI-MIB OID hierarchy. It is deployed as a prerequisite MIB loaded before BTI optical transport platform (e.g. bti7000 series) management MIBs in an NMS.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BTI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper BTI7800 Series — packet-optical transport platform, continued under Juniper Networks since its 2016 acquisition of BTI Systems

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only OID-hierarchy placeholders (btiSystems, btiModules, btiProducts, bti7000, btiems, btiPSM) with no leaf objects carrying runtime values, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe here; it simply anchors the namespace that BTI's actual hardware/alarm/performance MIBs build upon.
