Description: Manages SSH server configuration including keys, sessions, and access control on Broadcom gateways.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BRCM-SSH-MGMT-MIB?

BRCM-SSH-MGMT-MIB is a Broadcom enterprise MIB for managing the SSH server running on Broadcom-chipset residential/access gateways. It exposes SSH server control (enable/disable), configured usernames/passwords, active session details, a table of detected "hacker" (failed-login/intrusion) attempts, and the ability to force a user logout, alongside SSH-related trap notifications. Monitoring focus is security/software status of the management access path: administrators track active sessions and the hacker/failed-login table to detect brute-force or unauthorized access attempts, and confirm the SSH server control state is as expected. No dependency on other standard MIBs is evident; it is a self-contained Broadcom management extension. Deployment context is Broadcom-based broadband gateways/CPE devices where SSH is used for remote management and needs to be secured and monitored, which is exactly what BRCM-SSH-MGMT-MIB SNMP monitoring is designed to provide.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BRCM-SSH-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Broadcom-based broadband gateway/CPE

Monitoring Examples

An admin polls sshSessionIp and sshSessionInProgress to see who currently holds an active SSH session on the gateway. A growing sshHackerTable populated with unfamiliar sshHackerAddressType/sshSessionAddress entries indicates repeated failed login attempts, sshTraps would fire a notification for such events, and the admin can invoke sshForceUserLogout to terminate a suspicious session.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SSH server enable/control state
  • active SSH session IP/status
  • failed-login ("hacker") attempt records
  • configured SSH users
