Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: Avaya

Description: Reports Small Form Factor (SFP/SFP+) transceiver inventory and optical power readings on Avaya/Nortel ERS.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BAY-STACK-SFF-MIB?

BAY-STACK-SFF-MIB is an Avaya (Bay Networks/Synoptics heritage) proprietary MIB reporting Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) for SFP transceivers on BayStack switches. Its table, keyed by ifIndex, records calibration type, RX power measurement, temperature/voltage/bias-current/TX-power values each with low/high alarm and warning thresholds. As a hardware-performance MIB it lets an administrator watch an SFP transceiver's optical/electrical health against vendor-defined alarm/warning thresholds on an Avaya BayStack switch. It is deployed on Avaya (Bay Networks) BayStack switches. Engineers can download the BAY-STACK-SFF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BAY-STACK-SFF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avaya (Bay Networks) BayStack switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors bsDdiSfpTempValue against bsDdiSfpTempHighWarnThreshold to catch a degrading SFP transceiver before it triggers an alarm on an Avaya BayStack switch.
