Category: Fibre Channel and Storage, Vendor: Adaptec
Description: Manages Adaptec RAID array controllers, providing logical drive status, physical drive health, and rebuild progress monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AdaptecArrayController-MIB?
AdaptecArrayController-MIB is Adaptec's enterprise MIB for managing its hardware RAID array controllers, used to track the health and configuration of disk arrays attached to a server. Per its short description it covers logical drive status, physical drive health, and RAID rebuild progress -- squarely a hardware-status MIB for storage subsystems. It is used specifically to monitor hardware status: detecting a failed or degraded physical disk, a logical volume that has dropped out of its optimal state, and tracking the percentage progress of an active RAID rebuild after a disk replacement. As a storage-controller MIB it typically sits alongside, and is polled together with, a host's standard hardware MIBs (e.g., Host Resources MIB) for a complete view of server health. It is deployed on servers fitted with Adaptec SCSI/SAS RAID controllers in data center and enterprise server environments. Engineers can download the AdaptecArrayController-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AdaptecArrayController-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Adaptec RAID array controller
- server with Adaptec storage adapter
Monitoring Examples
A storage administrator would poll the logical-drive status table to confirm each array is in an optimal state rather than degraded or failed, and check the corresponding physical-drive health table to identify which physical disk triggered a degraded array. During a disk swap, the rebuild-progress object would be polled periodically to confirm the rebuild is advancing and estimate time to completion. No sample object names were provided in the source data, so exact table/leaf names are described generically based on the module's stated scope.
What Can Be Monitored
- logical drive status
- physical drive health/failure state
- RAID rebuild progress
- array configuration
