Description: MIB for system control, wireless configuration, and trap management on Atmel-based wireless networking devices

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ATMEL-MIB?

ATMEL-MIB is an Atmel private enterprise MIB for managing wireless networking devices (access points) built on Atmel's wireless chipset/reference platform, covering system control, wireless configuration, and site-survey/trap functions. It exposes system-level control objects — sysReset, sysLoadDefaults, sysUpload, sysTrapSwitch — alongside device identity/status (sysDescr, sysDeviceInfo, sysDeviceMoreInfo) and IP/network configuration (operIPAddress, operIPMask, operEthernetAddress, operGateway) plus a SiteSurveyCommand for wireless scanning. In terms of hardware/software status, this MIB is used to check basic device identity/description and to remotely trigger management actions like a reset, restore-to-defaults, or firmware/config upload — administrative control functions rather than deep sensor telemetry, though sysDeviceInfo/sysDeviceMoreInfo carry device state details. It appears to be a self-contained vendor MIB layered over the standard SNMP internet/mgmt tree with no notable external MIB dependency beyond that. It is deployed on Atmel-chipset-based wireless access points/bridges, often used by smaller or white-label WLAN hardware vendors. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ATMEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ATMEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Atmel-chipset-based wireless access points/bridges

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll sysDescr and sysDeviceInfo/sysDeviceMoreInfo to identify a fielded Atmel-based access point's model and firmware state, and could set sysTrapSwitch to enable/disable trap notifications from the unit. Issuing a SiteSurveyCommand would trigger the AP to scan for nearby wireless networks/interference, useful for diagnosing RF issues, while sysReset or sysLoadDefaults would be used to remotely recover a misbehaving unit. operIPAddress/operGateway confirm the unit's current network reachability configuration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device description/identity
  • device status detail
  • IP address/gateway/subnet configuration
  • site survey / RF scan results
  • trap notification enable state
