Description: Manages Allied Telesis stacking topology, member roles, inter-switch links, and virtual chassis configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AT-STACK-MIB?
AT-STACK-MIB is Allied Telesis's private MIB for managing switch stacking (virtual chassis) configurations, where multiple physical switches operate as one logical unit. It exposes stack member identity, role assignment (dedicated master/backup dedicated master), inter-switch link traffic counters, and stack-wide packet statistics. Its monitoring value spans both hardware and software status: it reveals which physical member holds the master role, tracks inter-switch link health via rxPkts/txPkts/rxDiscards/txFails counters, and can indicate a failing stacking link through rising discard or failure counts. It is an Allied Telesis proprietary extension with no strong dependency on external standard MIBs, since stacking is a vendor-specific feature. It is deployed in enterprise or campus network environments where multiple Allied Telesis switches are stacked for higher port density and simplified management as a single logical switch. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the AT-STACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Allied Telesis stackable switch (virtual chassis)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll stackMemberTable/stackMemberEntry to confirm each memberHostId and macAddress is present and check which member is flagged as dedicatedMaster versus backupDedicatedMaster to verify stack redundancy is intact. Monitoring rxDiscards and txFails counters alongside rxPkts/txPkts on the inter-stack links would reveal a degrading stacking cable or port, since rising discards/failures without a corresponding traffic increase typically indicate a physical stacking interconnect problem.
What Can Be Monitored
- stack member identity and MAC address
- master/backup master role assignment
- inter-switch link packet counts
- inter-switch link discards and failures
- stack ID
