Module: AT-GS950-24-MIB

OID (symbolic): AT-GS950-24-MIB::dot1sCistPortRestrictedRole

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.207.1.4.167.118.1.6.1.44

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: A Boolean value set by management. If TRUE causes the Port not to be selected as Root Port for the CIST or any MSTI, even it has the best spanning tree priority vector. Such a Port will be selected as an Alternate Port after the Root Port has been selected. This parameter should be FALSE by default. If set it can cause lack of spanning tree connectivity. It is set by a network administrator to prevent bridges external to a core region of the network influencing the spanning tree active topology, possibly because those bridges are not under the full control of the administrator.

This administrator configuration is also known as 'Root Guard'.

What is dot1sCistPortRestrictedRole?

When set to TRUE, prevents this port from being elected as the Root Port for the CIST or any MSTI, forcing it to become an Alternate Port instead. This is used to restrict which ports can carry traffic toward the root, providing administrative control over spanning tree topology.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> AT-GS950-24-MIB::dot1sCistPortRestrictedRole

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.207.1.4.167.118.1.6.1.44.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> AT-GS950-24-MIB::dot1sCistPortRestrictedRole.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.207.1.4.167.118.1.6.1.44.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> dot1sCistPortRestrictedRole.1
